Cecconi’s, West Hollywood
For our last night in LA, I wanted something special and to feel LA, but we didn’t want to end up somewhere too trendy. We ended ended up at Cecconi’s in Hollywood. First, I have to shade my current home town a bit….there isn’t much of a night life *scene* in Seattle. There’s good food and good dining, but it isn’t hot or popping. Everything closes at 10. It’s not unusual to see several people in sweats and an REI hoodie at the nicest restaurants. People just plain don’t dress up. This restaurant tonight had Energy. I immediately knew I wasn’t in Seattle anymore. There were all ages in the restaurant and they were dressed to impress! Older gentlemen in their dinner jackets, young 20 something’s in their sundresses. A lady in a long evening gown and diamonds. There was a very fit gay couple behind us, wearing something that you’d barely call shirts. One guy was literally wearing some sort of hairy scarf, and only the hairy scarf, and pants. (My aunt called him Tarzan man, lol.) And his date wore a shirt that was strategically taped open to show his entire chest. The people watching was on point! Oh, and the food was excellent. I had hamachi crudo (which I had to eat myself because my aunt doesn’t eat raw fish) followed by scallops with lemon risotto.
As our Uber drove us home through Hollywood, the streets were hopping. Many clubs with loud music and lots of people having a good time. For a moment I wished I was 20 years younger. Alas, back in the hotel by 10.
