The Pink Door, Seattle

The Pink Door is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. I’m not alone; it’s popular! Reservations open up 30 days in advance on Open Table and go FAST.  I’ve found the best way to get into The Pink Door is to make a lunch or afternoon reservation or try getting in as a walk in as soon as they open for lunch. The Pink Door is located in Pike Place Market on Post Ally. (Across the street from the historic building that houses the supposedly haunted Kells, but that’s another post!)  The Pink Door isn’t a secret; it’s well known, but there’s no sign. It’s only identifiable by that innocuous pink door. Cross the threshold, go down the stairs and wonders await! There is a dining room in the back with large windows and a view of Elliott Bay. But, during the summer the outdoor patio is the place to be. Summers in Seattle can be pretty special. Finding a nice outdoor venue, with a view, excellent Italian and a fun vibe to enjoy that special? The Pink Door is it.  It’s a wonderful spot to relax with friends and enjoy that perfect Seattle day.  I’ve tried most of the appetizers at one time or another, with the bruschetta and arancini being favorites. But I admit for my entrée I usually go to one of my two faves, the lasagna with the delicious bechamel sauce or the papparadelle bolognese.  In the front lounge, there is regular evening entertainment, including an aerial show. And of course getting to The Pink Door means walking through the historic Pike Place Market, always a treat. Driving means parking a ways a way and walking, some of it up/down hill, but there are several public parking lots and garages nearby. But I think ride share is usually best so you can enjoy those beautiful cocktails!
