The Play That Goes Wrong, Seattle Rep

Kicking off a new theater season with a comedy at the Rep! I’ve seen this show before, but it’s just as funny a second time. Manor House Murder Mystery meets slapstick. It’s a show within a show: a community theater putting on a murder mystery play. And the prop masters and set builders are really, really, really bad at their jobs. The actors are marginally better, but they are game and fully believe the show must go on….no matter what happens. And a lot happens. The show is all broad humor and physical comedy. Most of the audience was crying laughing throughout. One of my favorite parts of these manor house murder mystery shows is the set. So most important question…would I want to stay or live in this 1920s British Manor? Did I want to take any of the set furniture home? Well, there was a fancy purple chaise that was calling my name.
